Potter was born to Runer and Helen Potter on July 28th, 1866. She bought and protected the land, eventually leaving over 4,000 acres with farms and cottages to the National Trust. Most famously, her story is told in a Hollywood film featuring Renee Zellweger in the role of Potter, in Miss Potter, 2006.īeatrix Potter was born in London, but as curator Annemarie Bilclough stated, she was "a 'town mouse' longing to be a 'country mouse'." She had more than 92 pets during her lifetime and had spent the last 30 years of her life in the Lake District, at her Hill Top farm.
